Writing Your PDP
Writing your PDP requires five drafts. It takes a long time. But it's a test: a test to see whether you're worth the investment of many, many people's time to help direct you, support you, and sustain you on the road to where you want to go.
In the first draft, you write your long-range, lifelong goals for work, education, civics and health.
In the second draft, you write your SAM (Specific, Attainable, Measurable) Objectives -- short, measurable steps on the way to your goal.
In the third draft, you put in all the text and formatting about contracts, signatures, and definitions so that you can present your PDP to people you want to sign it: your parents, teachers, mentors, and representatives from MUGS.
The fourth draft is based on presenting it to people. When you show your PDP to people, they may have suggestions for you. They may require you to change some things. They may want you to investigate some more choices.
In the fifth, and final, draft, you put all this together so that you can ask for people's signatures with confidence and clarity.
It will change your life.
